Dr. Barry F. Beck is a Senior Hydrogeologist and Vice-President for Karst. Dr. Beck serves as Chief of Operations for PELA's office in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He is registered as a Certified Professional Geologist with the American Institute of Professional Geologists and as a Professional Geologist in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. Dr. Beck served as Director of the Florida Sinkhole Research Institute for nine years. As an internationally recognized karst specialist, he is responsible for organizing PELA's highly acclaimed series of conferences on sinkholes and karst and is the main editor of all the proceedings. He is Chairman of the Karst Task Force of the Geo-Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Dr. Beck has been called "the foremost authority on sinkholes in the world." Dr. Philip E. LaMoreaux is PELA's founder and serves as Senior Hydrogeologist and Technical Advisor, providing oversight, review, and quality control for selected PELA projects. He has decades of experience as a specialist in karst hydrology. Dr. LaMoreaux is a Certified Professional Geologist and is registered as a Professional Geologist in eleven states. He is the editor of the journal Environmental Geology and has served as Chief of the U.S. Geological Survey Ground Water Branch, Alabama State Geologist, President of the International Association of Hydrogeologists, and Editor-in-Chief of Hydrology of Limestone Terranes-Annotated Bibliography of Carbonate Rocks.
Dr. Bashir Ahmed Memon is a Senior Hydrogeologist and serves as PELA's Executive Vice President. He is registered as a Certified Professional Geologist with the American Institute of Professional Geologists and as a Professional Geologist in fourteen states. Dr. Memon has directed a variety of karst projects involving complex hydrogeologic and water-quality investigations, as well as water-resource development programs. Dr. Memon is an expert on aquifer testing. He has published extensively, including a paper on landfills in karst terranes. Dr. Wanfang Zhou is a Senior Hydrogeologist and Geophysicist. He serves as Assistant Chief of Technical Operations for PELA's office in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He is registered as a Professional Geologist in Tennessee. Dr. Zhou has an extensive background in applied hydrogeology, including geophysical investigations, groundwater tracing, groundwater modeling, and control of karst groundwater flow in mines. Dr. Zhou has directed and participated many projects since joining PELA. He has published extensively in karst hydro-geophysics, dye tracing, groundwater modeling, and mine water control. He serves on the Editorial Board of Environmental Geology.

Mr. Arthur J. Pettit is a geologist, computer scientist, and project manager. He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1996 and has specialized experience in hydrogeological studies in karst terrane, including groundwater tracing, geophysical prospecting, water table mapping, and use of borehole video cameras. He is registered as a Professional Geologist in Tennessee, a member of the East Tennessee Geological Society, a life member of the National Speleological Society, a member of the East Tennessee Grotto of the NSS and holds an advanced open-water scuba diver certification.

Mr. Gheorge M. Ponta is a geologist. He has performed site investigations in karst areas for water-supply and contamination studies. He has supervised the drilling and installation of monitoring wells, performed collection and description of lithologic samples, performed sampling and monitoring of ground and surface water, and assisted with data compilation and report preparation. Mr. Ponta is certified for working on hazardous-waste sites per OSHA regulations in 29 CFR 1910.120.
Ms. Jie Wang is a geologist and has over 15 years' experience in hydrogeology and engineering geology. She has been involved in geological, groundwater hydrology and specialized karst investigations. She has assisted PELA with geophysical data collection, groundwater monitoring, data processing and interpretation. She is knowledgeable in statistical analysis for evaluating various factors that influence water quality in karst groundwater monitoring programs.
